Journeying from sky to sea you will travel through craggy Rocky Mountain passes and tour Pacific coastlines with stunning vistas of fjords and glacial valleys. Marvel at sparkling glaciers, plunging canyons and fierce rivers. You will explore the wild paths of fur traders, gold prospectors, cowboys and the mounted officers that policed them. Search for elk, mountain goats, bears and whales. Urban excitement and breathtaking natural wonders combine to make western Canada an unforgettable discovery.

This tour commences in Calgary visiting Banff,  Canmore,  Kamloops, Whistler and ending in the beautiful city of Vancouver.

After an overnight stay in Calgary and before leaving you will tour the sights of the city admiring such modern and historic landmarks as the Calgary Tower, Fort Calgary and the skyscrapers of the commercial district. Leaving Calgary behind you will set your sights on the Rocky Mountains, which can already be seen, far off in the distance. Experience the majesty of the mountains as you first travel through the foothills and then enter Banff National Park touring the region around Banff amidst snow-capped peaks, sparkling glaciers and emerald green lakes and see the landmark Banff Springs Hotel, Bow Falls and Tunnel Mountain.

A couple of nights will be spent in Canmore from where you can explore the National Park and spend a day at leisure to tour Banff and browse through the many boutiques and speciality shops along Banff Avenue. An optional full-day tour is offered to the Columbia Ice-field. The tour starts with a visit to the turquoise waters and spectacular glacier of Lake Louise, the jewel of the Rockies. From the unsurpassed beauty of Lake Louise you enter rugged wilderness as you travel up the world famous Ice-fields Parkway.

 

 

At the spectacular Columbia Ice-field you will board an Ice Explorer that will take you onto the surface of the ancient Athabasca Glacier.  You return to Banff late in the afternoon or you may also take an optional helicopter tour of the world famous Three Sisters mountains.

 

 

 

From Canmore you will travel on the famed Trans-Canada Highway, following a route charted by the railroad engineers and fur traders of the mid 1800s and on to Kamloops crossing the jagged Kicking Horse Pass into British Columbia’s Yoho National Park. From the highway, you will be treated to a dazzling display of vast ice fields, deep canyons, dense forests and glacier-fed streams. One awe- inspiring landscape follows another en route to Glacier National Park continuing through the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges to the rugged interior town of Kamloops where you will stay the night.

From Kamloops on to Whistler experiencing a day of dramatic scenery changes driving through the ranch lands heading for the coastal mountains.  An optional Floatplane Sightseeing Tour over Garibaldi Park gives you an inspiring view of a natural preserve of volcanic peaks, alpine lakes and meadows.

After an overnight stay in Whistler you will be driven south along the spectacular Sea-to-Sky Highway through a dramatic landscape of jagged fjords and glaciated mountain peaks.  Leaving the countryside behind you will arrive in the metropolis of Vancouver where you will be taken on a sightseeing tour with highlights including Stanley Park, Prospect Point, English Bay, historic Gastown, bustling Chinatown and much more.

You will spend the last two nights of your tour in Vancouver before returning home to the UK.

The Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains form the backdrop to your day at leisure in Vancouver. You might want to do some shopping down on Robson Street, relax in Vancouver’s playground Stanley Park or stroll through the markets of Granville Island. If you prefer to explore the outdoors, take a gondola ride to the summit of Grouse Mountain.

You can also go on an optional full-day tour to Victoria –  sitting on the southernmost tip of Vancouver Island this charming provincial capital is proud of her maritime heritage and beautiful 19th century landmarks.    It is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with ornate gardens, tea rooms, picturesque harbourside bars and a history which shows in its  British/Victorian architecture so is an unique blend of old world charm and new world experiences – they even have double decker buses!  Before taking the ferry back to Vancouver, you will visit Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s great floral displays set in a reclaimed stone quarry.

The time has come for some last minute shopping and to say farewell to Canada before checking in at Vancouver’s International Airport for your return flight with your mind full of the wonderful experiences you have enjoyed.

Another tour to consider is the Canadian Coastal and Mountain Discovery this nine night tour whilst having a similar itinerary is a bit more special as it includes travel on board the Rocky Mountaineer (SilverLeaf).
